Winston County is a county located in the state of Mississippi. As of 2000, the population is 20,160. Its county seat is Louisville6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,580 km² (610 mi²). 1,572 km² (607 mi²) of it is land and 8 km² (3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.51% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 20,160 people, 7,578 households, and 5,471 families residing in the county. The population density is 13/km² (33/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 55.26% White, 43.25% Black or African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.28% from other races, and 0.46% from two or more races. 1.21% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
