The Western Yan (Simplified Chinese character: 西燕, Traditional Chinese character: 西燕, pinyin Xīyàn) (384-394) was a state of Xianbei ethnicity during the era of Sixteen Kingdoms in China.
All rulers of the Former Yan declared themselves "emperors".
