WWE Judgment Day is a WWE Pay-Per-View event. The first edition of Judgment Day was in October of 1998 as an In Your House event. This Pay-Per-View (usually held in May) was originally known as "Over The Edge" in 1998 and 1999 but the name was replaced after the fatal tragedy at the 1999 event with the death of Owen Hart. In 2000, Judgment Day became the annual May event which follows the WWE Backlash Pay-Per-View in April. Recently, "J Day" is now exclusive to the SmackDown! "brand," and will mostly be used to end feuds from SmackDown coming out of WrestleMania.
