David Oreck

Nice start on the David Oreck article. I think the guy's absolutely fascinating and I took the liberty to expand it a bit. - Lucky 6.9 20:17, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)

    • You bet. It's articles like that one which make this site worthwhile. - Lucky 6.9 23:01, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)

List of U.S. cities with large Chinese American populations

I added List of U.S. cities with Asian American majority populations and List of U.S. cities with large Vietnamese American populations back under related topics because they belong there. Chinese Americans are a subgroup of Asian Americans. There is a connection between the Vietnamese American and Chinese American communities, not only because they are both Asian groups, but also because a significant number of Vietnamese Americans are of Chinese descent. — J3ff 22:52, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

On that note, I made similar changes to related topic section of List of U.S. cities with large Vietnamese American populations for the same reason. — J3ff 22:54, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

bio-stub

RJ: I wasn't aware of the bio-stub boilerplate, but I will give it a try next time I need it (which should be later today). Thanks! Steve Casburn 21:14, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

NAMBLA

As I saw that you edited Roman Catholic Church sex abuse scandal I would like to invite you to help with conflicts in the article about the "North American Man/Boy love organization" as well. Get-back-world-respect 20:26, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

is this for real?!?

Houston Mayors

Your welcome. If you plan to continue writing articles about Houston mayors, you can find many of their birth and death dates at http://www.rulers.org/uscit.html and then click on the heading for Houston. Academic Challenger 05:01, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Dude! I just revised your Houston mayors pages (and added a page for Oscar F. Holcombe). Check them out and let me know what you think -- I should have dropped you a line before I got started, but by the time I thought of that, I was halfway through. Steve Casburn 04:24, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

List of Hospitals

I have begun expanding the List of hospitals to include every country in the world, you may want to check for omissions and spelling errors in what I have added. I have completed the Europe list (I think). -JCarriker 01:25, May 22, 2004 (UTC)

EXLOG and other new articles

When writing a new article, could you add a sentence or two saying what it is that you are writing out? For example, I could not understand if EXLOG is a company, an institute at Stanford or something else. Andris 20:59, May 1, 2004 (UTC)

Yeah, that's usually how my stubs start out...

Fields of interest

Thanks. I'm trying to concentrate on non-contoversial topics at the moment, such as (hopefully) a list of hospitals. I'll probaly add my interests to List of Wikipedians by fields of interest eventually but I am currently trying to boost the number of my main space edits, so it will probably be a little while.

Mutual fund scandal (2003)

Bill, nice work on the mutual fund article. Does "market timing" need to be defined more or is it the same as "late trading" in the article? --Rj 04:59, Apr 11, 2004 (UTC)

  • Whoops. I'm just seeing this now. Thanks. No, "late trading" and "market timing" are two different things. I'll add a definition to the article. -- Bill 22:48, 11 Jun 2004 (UTC)
    • Thanks, i get it now... --Rj 01:28, Jul 25, 2004 (UTC)

Hi, I've started a discussion on which syntax(es) should be implemented for table-based chessboards. Your opinion is invited. Thanks. Arvindn 14:57, 10 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Wikipedia Projects

Automobiles

Yeah it's pretty new.

See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Automobiles and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Automobiles/Layouts for some discussion on the project so far.

There is much work to be done still. The first major project I think should be to identify things to be done so that people can help out. Next maybe we need to look at the getting a standard layout together to help people assemble new articles. Any ideas are worth having though. akaDruid 12:16, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)

The Humungous Image Tagging Project

Hi. You've helped with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Wiki Syntax, so I thought it worth alerting you to the latest and greatest of Wikipedia fixing project, User:Yann/Untagged Images, which is seeking to put copyright tags on all of the untagged images. There are probably, oh, thirty thousand or so to do (he said, reaching into the air for a large figure). But hey: they're images ... you'll get to see lots of random pretty pictures. That must be better than looking for at at and the the, non? You know you'll love it. best wishes --Tagishsimon (talk)

Image:Tzero.bmp

Thanks for uploading Image:Tzero.bmp. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 21:28, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)

i think it was from the ac propulsion site

Hello. I've listed Image:Tzero.bmp as a copyright violation. I'm afraid that it's not legal to put upload most images to Wikipedia. To qualify, an image has to fall into one of three categories:

  1. It can be in the public domain, such as an image produced by the U.S. government or a photo taken before 1923.
  2. It can be releasable under the GFDL or a compatible license (which pretty much only applies to images you create yourself.)
  3. It can be copyrighted but usable under a fair use claim. This one's complicated, but album covers or photos of historic events might count. Image:Tzero.bmp doesn't fall into this category.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Best regards, – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 13:50, Mar 19, 2005 (UTC)

Untagged images

Would you mind taking a look at User:Rj/wikiwork? None of the images there have image copyright tags. BrokenSegue 23:45, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright tags

Thanks for uploading Image:Bill Bradley fishing with his Warren.jpg. Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User_talk:Ram-Man&action=edit&section=new)| talk)

no prob... but why do you not have a user account?

Avoiding Duplications in Lists

I'd just like to say that I'm very disappointed that you put back the duplicative listings in the Supercentenarian article that I consider it important to avoid.People should be listed/linked only once when possible!--L.E./12.144.5.2/le@put.com

i disagree
I'll be blunt. After all the work I have put into that article as a distillation of my years of research in the supercentenarian field,I consider the inclusion of that table to have ruined it!

sorry 'bout that but shouldn't u put your work into a book so that it doesn't get altered?

Copyright violation

Hi,

I requested the article you created for Robert Haas, chairman of Levi Strauss be removed. The content was lifted directly from the copyrighted corporate webpage located here (http://www.levistrauss.com/about/bios/) please avoid copy and pasting from protected sources. If you recall any other instances of copyright violation, please amend those pages.

I don't mean to raise the level of hostility. However, please do consider revisiting any instances of copyright violation as it reflects poorly on the site.
