Taboo Tuesday

Hey mate, thanks for updating the Taboo Tuesday page - but do you think it should be a plural?

Not really because its one single championship in a tag team devision, i would consider it to be a plural if it was mentioned as tag team title i would then rewrite it as tag team titles. you can change it to a plural if you want, it doesnt make much difference.
The Wikipedia:naming conventions say that the singular should be preferred unless it always appears in the plural (like "scissors"). Remember, you can always type Taboo Tuesdays to get Taboo Tuesdays, but there's no shorthand to derive the singular from Taboo Tuesdays short of typing out Taboo Tuesday in its entirety. There's a longer rationale here. Gwalla | Talk 00:59, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User_talk:Ram-Man&action=edit&section=new)| talk)

Images

When uploading images please always edit the image description page and do two things:

  1. State the source of the image (the address of a web page, the title of the book or "I created this image myself.")
  2. State the copyright. The easiest way to list the copyright is to use a copyright tag. The most important tags are GFDL, PD, and fairuse. GFDL is for images that you create yourself. PD is for public domain images (either pre-1923 or released by the copyright holder). Fair use is for copyrighted images that we can use under the fair use rules in the USA.

Without proper source and copyright information, images will eventually be deleted!

You can view the image description page by clicking on an image, and edit it like any other wikipedia page: by clicking on the "edit this page" tab.

For more information:

If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know exactly where you got the images (on my talk page) and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much..

Some of the wrestleing pictures such as Image:Dictionary quebradora 0000.jpg don't have this information Zeimusu | Talk 02:04, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Pro wrestling contributions

Hey, thanks for your work on pro wrestling articles! You've been contributing good content. But could you do a small favor for me and proofread your changes before submitting them? Some typos have been falling through the cracks. Thanks! Gwalla | Talk 01:33, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the comment, i will try to make sure i proofread my articals more often.
Thanks! Gwalla | Talk 00:59, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Naming conventions

Hey... I noticed that you've been doing some good work these professional wrestling articles and I was wondering what you thought the naming conventions for the wrestler articles. Most of them seem to go by the wrestler's real names, which is counterintuitive, especially when browsing through the list Category:Professional wrestlers. This is particularly odd for wrestlers who have been using one performance name for most of their career, especially The Undertaker. We should probably move them to the pages of their performance names in accordance with Wikipedia Naming conventions and then redirect the real name to the proper article. What do you think? --Jtalledo (talk) 19:39, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I understand what you mean, the amount of times i have wanted to know the correct link for a wrestler and i have forgotten their real name, but naming them by their gimmick, that can only really depends on the on the wrestler in question. In most cases I would agree with you, esspecially if they have used the gimmick for the main of their career. Thats why we have articles like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Big Daddy etc, but their as some problems eith this idea. wrestling is an ever changing business, with gimmicks that change just as fast, and if articles were made under the gimmick names we would gain, more, gimmick specific articles, like Dude Love. Also most wrestlers these days either go by thier real names (be it with some minor spelling differences), or they are better known by there real names. So i think unless its a legend, we will stick with real names. Thanks for asking my oppinion ----Paulley 20:01, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Actually the reason we have Stone Cold Steve Austin is because there is already a wrestler under Steve Williams (wrestler). Anyways. It would be nice if gimmick redirect pages could include a category, eg CM Punk would still redirect to Phil Brooks, but it would also be listed in Category:Professional wrestlers. But redirects are only parsed if they are the first line, and wikipedia doesn't seem to parse anything after them. Perhaps we need a feature request. If this would work I would vote for having all wrestler pages to be under real names. Don't know how the two Steve Williamses should be then listed as, though.
--Lakes 22:54, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I got a feeling you will find that Steve Williams (wrestler) was created long after the Stone Cold article was made. For another possible idea maybe when adding a cat to profiles may be we should list them as their gimmick (if its a long term well established one) i.e. on the Phil Brooks page we use Category:Professional wrestlers|CM Punk --- Paulley 19:40, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
One possibility would be if we could include an article under two names in a Category, but doesn't seem like it's possible at the moment.

Professional wrestler profiles

This is the formatting used when creating or editing a professional wrestler article:

First add an introdution paragraph about the wrestler, then

Profile
*Height:
*Weight:
*Birthday:
*Hometown:
*Trained By:
*Professional Debut:
*Previous Identities:
*Previous Manager(s):
*Quotes:
*Finishing/Signature Move(s):
*Movie(s):

Career
Championships/Accomplishments
*1-time WWE European Championship|WWE European Champion
or, if the title has no article,
*1-time WWE European Champion (you also could link promotion name)
for a tag team belt add: with, link name of wrestler

Then add the category, there you go a sucessful wrestler article.

Wrestler Profile Standard

Hi Chrysaor, thanxs alot for backing my profile standard for wrestler bios. I am glad to see that they are being used wisely and even appearing articles such as Triple H's. Keep up the good work Paulley 20:51, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Don't mention it, I have no problem getting behind a good thing. --Chrysaor 21:11, Mar 30, 2005 (UTC)

NWA Titles

NWA Titles

I see you have been creating many Championship articles, which is a great help. you seem to have a good knowledge of these titles and i wondered if you could do me the favour of recreating the NWA World Tag Team Championship page and putting its titles history in the List of NWA World Tag Team Champions. Also, if possible could you go on to the National Wrestling Alliance and start a "Titles in the company" (or "NWA titles", that sorta thing) section, so there will be a place where all the exsisting NWA title infos and the recent ones you have been making can link off from --- Paulley 18:05, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

    • Hello Paulley! I actually have that on my list to do, the NWA World Tag Team Titles that is. I will take care of the "Titles in the company" on the NWA page for you too. Thanks for asking and also good job on the edits that you do on the wrestling pages. I appreciate it and I know many others do too!

      • Hi Pauley, I just got finished with the List of NWA World Tag Team Champions and hit save page and it has not showed up yet. I really hope it does because it took me about two hours to do and I really doubt I will spend that much time doing it over. Just wanted to let you know that it may not have saved. Nothing indicated that to me though.

    • Feel free to delete this image, i wrongly uploaded it (as i was ment to upload the smaller version, which i did later). if i'm right its not even being used, so if you wanna delete it please go on ahead.--- Paulley 15:12, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Edit summary

Hello. Please remember to always provide an edit summary. Thanks and happy edits. Alphax τεχ 10:55, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

lots of edits, not an admin

Hi - I made a list of users who've been around long enough to have made lots of edits but aren't admins. If you're at all interested in becoming an admin, can you please add an '*' immediately before your name in this list? I've suggested folks nominating someone might want to puruse this list, although there is certainly no guarantee anyone will ever look at it. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 14:33, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)
