System Lord

Template:Mergefrom

In the science fiction television show Stargate SG-1, the System Lords are a group of major Goa'uld powers. For thousands of years, Ra was the predominant system lord, until he was killed in the movie Stargate. They rarely trust each other, and very frequently battle amongst themselves.

The Tok'ra usually try to keep the system lords balanced so that no single system lord can completely overpower the others.

At various times the Goa'uld Amaterasu, Amonet, Anubis, Apophis, Aries, Baal, Bastet, Camulus, Cronos, Hathor, Heru-ur, Isis, Kali, Klorel, Marduk, Moloc, Morrigan, Nirrti, Olukun, Osiris, Ra, Seth, Sobek,Sokar, Svarog, Telchak and Yu have been system lords.

Apophis became dominant after Ra was defeated; Sokar after Apophis, Apophis again, then Anubis, Ba'al and Anubis again. It is not clear who is currently dominant after the success of the Jaffa rebellion.

Current System Lords were Amateratsu, Ba'al, Kali, and Morrigan until the Replicators eliminated them. The only remaining System Lord is Ba'al.

Amonet, Apophis, Aries, Bastet, Camulus, Cronos, Hathor, Heru-ur, Isis, Klorel, Marduk, Moloc, Nirrti, Olukun, Ra, Seth, Sokar and Yu are dead as of season eight. (Jack O'Neill: "Well, at least somebody's been keeping score!") Camulus willingly surrendered and was a prisoner at the SGC, later sacrificed himself to kill Ba'al but in the end Ba'al survived. Osiris, a recurring villain for years, was forcibly captured and removed from his host in Season 7, and although his host was later seen alive it is unknown if Osiris was killed or kept alive for experimentation. Morrigan surrendered her forces but remains a System Lord. Anubis has not been seen since his attempt to destroy all life in the galaxy provoked Oma Desala into fighting him.
