Leif Garrett

Leif Garrett (born November 8, 1961) is an American singer, actor, and former teen idol, born in Hollywood, California. His birth name was Leif Per Narvick; his ancestry is Norwegian.
Son of an aspiring actress, Garrett made his acting debut in the swinging 60s film Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice at age 5. He also starred with his sister Dawn Lyn in all 3 Walking Tall series. Another sister is the actress Debralee Scott, who appeared on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Garrett went on to star in other movies,and made special guest star appearances in television shows.
In autumn 1976, Garrett signed and made contract with Atlantic Records, with which he recorded his first album, Leif Garrett. It was released in 1977. In mid-1978 he quit Atlantic Records after releasing Leif Garrett and signed to Scotti Bros for Feel the Need. Other Scotti Bros albums include Same Goes For You (1979) Can't Explain (1980) and My Movie of You (1981). With Matt Dillon, he starred in the 1983 Francis Ford Coppola film The Outsiders.
Three days before his 18th birthday, after a party, Garrett was involved in an automobile accident that paralyzed his best friend, who was his passenger. In later years, Garrett made headlines for heroin abuse, cocaine possession, and a stint in a rehabilitation center.
In 1999, he appeared in the low-budget horror film Dominion. That same year he guest starred on The Melvins album The Crybaby to sing the Nirvana song "Smells Like Teen Spirit," and toured with them.
