Walking Tall

Walking Tall is the name of three old movies, a TV series and a new movie based on the real-life story of Buford Pusser, whose fight with law breakers in his rural Southern community led him to become sheriff and run some powerful local businessmen out of town.
The original film, released in 1973, starred Joe Don Baker and was fairly true to the original story. It was set in the south, in a quiet rural town. Two sequels followed it in 1975 and 1977.
The 2004 film, starring Dwayne Johnson ("The Rock") and featuring much more flashy violence, opened on April 2, 2004.
