Idle Moments is a 1963 jazz album by Grant Green, also featuring Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone, Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, Duke Pearson on piano, Bob Cranshaw on bass, and Al Harewood on drums. The album is best known for the title piece, which last for nearly 15 minutes. The song was supposed to last for seven minutes only, but the first take evolved into double length because Grant Green played the otherwise 16-bar melody twice, thus resulting in a 32-bar melody. After Grant, Duke Pearson took over and played for 32 bars, and finally Bobby Hutcherson played a 32 bar solo too. The producer, Alfred Lion was satisfied with the take, although he suggested that they do a retake to fit the song into the seven minute limit. However, the song had a special feeling to it, so it was decided to relese the first take on the album.
The other songs are: "Jean De Fleur", "Django" and "Nomad". The reissue adds an alternate version of "Jean De Fleur" and "Django".
