Grant Green

Grant Green (June 6, 1935, St. Louis, MO – January 31, 1979, New York City, NY) is one of the most overlooked of jazz guitar players. Green recorded almost exclusively for Blue Note Records, recording some of the best guitar driven hard bop, soul jazz, and bebop of the 1960s.
Drug use disrupted his career, and along with the stress of making a living as a jazz musician in America, led to health problems and his eventual demise in 1979. Although he lived in Detroit, Michigan throughout the 1970's, he was buried in his hometown of St. Louis.
