Harvey Award

The Harvey Awards are given for achievement in comic books. Their full name is the Harvey Kurtzman Awards. The Harveys were created as part of a succesor to the Kirby Awards which were discontinued after 1987.

The Harvey Awards are nominated by an open vote among comic book professionals. The top five vote getters in each category are then chosen for a second vote from which the winners are chosen. The awards have been presented at various conventions since they started; the Chicago Comic-Con, the Dallas Fantasy Fair, Wondercon (in Oakland), and the Pittsburgh Comicon. The 2004 presentation was held on June 26 at the Museum of Cartoon and Comic Art (MoCCA) in New York City.
