Frei is a municipality in the county of Møre og Romsdal, Norway. Frei is located on the main island of the same name and the small surrounding islands, south of the town Kristiansund* (where many people of Frei make their living).
The Viking-era Battle of Rastarkalv, between Haakon I of Norway and the sons of Eric I of Norway, took place here in 955 AD.
