Claydol is a fictional species from the Pokémon franchise. It is proficient in Psychic-type moves and constantly levitates above the ground. Its arms float separately from its body. It sleeps while levitating. Claydol is said to have come into existance when statues or dolls of mud created by a 20,000-year-old civilization were exposed to mysterious radiation.
Claydol's design is similar to the 遮光器土偶 (shakōkidogū), a "spaceman" clay figurine from the Jōmon period of Japanese history.

Name Origin
Claydol is a portmanteau of clay and idol (or doll). Nendoll is probably a combination of 念 (nen), thought, and doll. Nen is found in various compounds having to do with ESP-related phenomena, for instance, 念写 (nensha), spirit-photography, and 念動 (nendō), telekinesis.
Availability
In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, wild Claydol can be found in Sky Pillar, an ancient, crumbling tower that houses many high-level Pokémon and on top of which Rayquaza sometimes appears. Claydol can also be evolved from Baltoy.
Anime Appearances
In Pokémon anime Episode 381, Seal the Huge Claydol!!, Team Rocket releases an abnormally large Claydol from its necessarily large Poké Ball in an attempt to steal it. The Pokémon goes on a destructive rampage, and Team Rocket ends up working with Ash Ketchum and friends to return the Claydol to another giant Poké Ball and restore peace.
