Information

Rayquaza has lived for over hundreds of millions of years in the earth's ozone layer, never descending to the ground. This Pokémon appears to feed on water and particles in the atmosphere.

Availability

Rayquaza is only available in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, at the top floor of the Sky Pillar. It is not available in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. Rayquaza is thought to be very hard to catch. To catch it in Emerald, you climb up Sky Pillar using the mach bike. To catch him by lowering his stats, first make him use up all his good moves, and when he uses rest, attack him with his lowered stats, and it will be easy to catch him while he is asleep and has low life. Use about 1-10 ultra balls and repeat the process if he wakes up.

Movie appearance

Rayquaza is featured in the seventh Pokémon movie, called Destiny Deoxys, where it battles Deoxys. The battle between them causes massive damage to LaRousse City, which was also featured in the movie. Deoxys clones itself, and the clones hunt for people, while Rayquaza tries to obliterate Deoxys.

Deoxys ended up finding what it had been searching for, and Rayquaza realizes that Deoxys isn't its enemy. So, Rayquaza returns to the ozone layer in the sky.

Battle Tactics

Many find Rayquaza strong. In fact, its title for the strongest pokemon is rivaled only by Mewtwo, who is the strongest pokemon in the world. Rayquaza can learn many strong moves, including dragon claw, thunderbolt, icebeam, rest, flamethrower, extreme speed, and hyperbeam. A useful combo to restore health is rest while holding a chesto berry. Rayquaza is extremely powerful physically and magically, and the owner of it shouldn't waste bad moves on him. However, watch out for its magic defensive stats- for it will take heavy damage from anyone just like that.

Rayquaza can also be easily defeated by Kyogre- with its Special Attack at its pinnacle- it can use an Ice Beam attack and destroy Rayquaza.
