Austrian Airlines (Österreichische Luftverkehrs AG) is the international airline carrier of Austria. Since 2003, Austrian Airlines is operating as Austrian. The airline flies out of Vienna International Airport in Vienna, Austria.

History
The airline was founded on September 30, 1957. On March 18 1958, the airline made its maiden flight, with a Vickers Viscount 779 taking off at 8:30 am Vienna local time for London.
Incidents and Accidents
September 26, 1960 became the only dark day in the airline's history when a Vickers Viscount 837 attempting to land at Moscow crashed near the Russian city. Thirty-one of the thirty seven people on board perished.
Services
Austrian (together with its subsidiaries) flies to destinations in Europe, North America, Asia major and the Middle East, as well as Australia.
Austrian has postponed the launch of its new five times weekly Boeing 767 service from Vienna to Mumbai from 1 May to 1 September 2005. A five times weekly Airbus A319 service from Vienna to Alexandria El Nohza is due to start on 5 June 2005. A four times weekly Airbus A319/A320 service from Vienna to Amman will resume on 2 June 2005 (ref:CH-Aviation).
