William Howarth

William Howarth is a professor of English at Princeton University. He serves on the editorial board of Environmental History and is the chairman of the board for The Center for American Places.
Employment History
Howarth has taught at Princeton since 1966. He is a former editor in chief of The Writings of Henry D. Thoreau. He is among the pioneering scholars in ecocriticism and environmental literature.
Howarth was born in Springfield, Illinois, the town from which the Donner Party departed.
