Westchase is an unincorporated census-designated place located in Hillsborough County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 11,116.
Geography
Westchase is located at 28°3'10" North, 82°36'41" West (28.052799, -82.611352)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 28.0 km² (10.8 mi²). 27.8 km² (10.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.46% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 11,116 people, 4,177 households, and 3,207 families residing in the community. The population density is 399.2/km² (1,034.2/mi²). There are 4,742 housing units at an average density of 170.3/km² (441.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 86.91% White, 5.06% African American, 0.10% Native American, 4.08% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 2.15% from other races, and 1.69% from two or more races. 11.89% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,177 households out of which 41.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.5% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.2% are non-families. 16.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.66 and the average family size is 3.04.
