Thank You!
I want to thank you DEEPLY for your support in the vote to promote me to a sysop. I promise to do my best to be as helpful, sensible, and neutral as possible. Your friend, Ryan.
Hi
Then you have plenty to do! You just have to take care of those two and 95% of all the other articles that were listed on copyright violations. You are a sysop arent you? I guess you will find them all in the page history of the copyvio page, which is not deleted everytime that a article is cleared. And you just volunteered to take care of that page, since i am not taking care of it again. Best wishes to Anthony. Muriel 01:17, 18 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Ok, i am sorry, but i am sick and tired of doing the things i am doing since months, trying to resolve problems and make this a better place and having people on my back annoying (thats not you). I didnt mean to upset you. Nevermind the A word, thats just me being silly. I am out of here for at least a month, hope to see you a happy contributor and sysop when i return. Cheers, Muriel

- shrugs*) You don't need my permission to restore the text, if it turns out that it's not a copyvio. Go right ahead. -- Seth Ilys 16:36, 19 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Majority
2 things. Without accurate survey information, it is improper to bandy about the term "majority". IMO the majority WORLD population is intensely racist. Thats my experience, esp. with non-americans. I can give you evidence of it if you like, this (http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=185) may be a good starting point. The 2nd thing is that majority viewpoint doesn't make anything true, or right. It is an appeal to the people to claim that they do. Sam Spade 02:55, 20 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- When it is one individual against many (be they 3 or 20) it is one against the majority, IMO. I will bandy it about at my pleasure as I'm sure you will with your opinion. As long as Wikipedia resembles a democratic republic those in the majority (even if only by one) will be those you must convince. Pushing an individuals agenda by force (or repetition), and not discussion, against the majority is wrong and will fail.- Texture 16:28, 20 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Who is this lone individual? You? Me? Paul? Were all just people. You appear not to be understanding me, and I wish I could help you, but that would clearly involve a massive amount of repitition of the above abvious facts (majority opinion does not = truth, opinion in general does not = truth, you and a couple of random wikis who care to vote w you do not constitute anything romotely similar to a majority opinion, if one was of any great importance). If you would like a more articulate and thorough description of the above particulars, I will go over them with you, let me know. Sam Spade 19:37, 20 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you for your interest but I don't think you are ready to hear me. We made good strides toward compromise. I hope that continues in the future. I appreciate your concern. - Texture 05:27, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Ummm Why?
Why did you revert Imperial College Electrical and Electronic Engineering Society? Ned 13:13, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Because an anon IP removed the copyvio notice. - Texture 16:56, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Umm fair enough. I might not have been logged in I suppose... But if you check out the 'Discuss this page' you will see that the Copyright issue was worked out. Eh well, ne'er to mind, all's well that ends well. Nedlowe 18:36, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Newcomb's problem
Re: the copyvio notice on Newcomb's problem, I'm more than a little confused. Yes, the content was a copyvio of the slate.com article. But we already had an article on the same topic which was not a copyvio - Newcomb's paradox. What is the point of leaving it as a flagged copyvio for 7 days in this case? Why shouldn't I have just fixed it? If I am completely misunderstanding the copyvio resolution process, please educate me. Thanks. Rossami 23:32, 23 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- We cannot retain copyright violations in page history (since they are still available to the internet in violation of the owner's copyright) so we must delete the article (to delete its history) and then we can create a redirect that has no violations in its history. - Texture 23:34, 23 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you. That's so obvious in hindsight yet I never picked it up from the pages on how to resolve copyright problems. Rossami
- Follow-up question. With that rule about getting the copyvio out of the page history, how does the policy deal with a copyvio that is inserted into an otherwise good article with a long non-copyvio edit history? Does the deletion mechanism allow you to delete just parts of the history? Rossami
- Not yet. This is why there is a strong effort to stop all work on an article that begins as a copyvio. A copyvio that is introduced partway through is still a problem until we can deleted individual pages in history - Texture 14:52, 24 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Copyvios
I didn't put copyvio boilerplates on the pages in question because the entire page is not a copright violation. I did, however, mention it in the Talk pages. RickK | Talk 02:16, 24 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Concerning your message at my user talk page: Gugganij, can you add a section at the beginning of EU special territories to explain the term and its usage in your article? I would try it myself but I don't know enough about the subject. - Texture 17:31, 23 Mar 2004 (UTC) Well, it's not my article, since I didn't create it. I am not quite sure if "EU special territory" is even an appropriate title, since a lot of dependent territories or nations are described which are not part of the EU and therefore cannot be regarded as "special territories" of the Union. I am going to put this objection on the discussion page. kind regards Gugganij 18:24, 24 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Now that the voting period has passed, I think we need an sysop to move Sedna (astronomical object). Rmhermen 13:43, Mar 25, 2004 (UTC)
Thank you for your correcting yourself. We should allow follow such an example. GrazingshipIV
User reincarnation
Texture, thanks for handling the user:Japan situation. You did a better job than I could have. Glad to have you on board as an admin! --Uncle Ed 19:50, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)
No problem, Texture. Nice to meet you, by the way.
I didn't actually delete Wikipedia Revolution Movement either, not as such (though it may well have deserved worse than I gave it). Instead, I moved it to the appropriate user space: User:Japan/Wikipedia Revolution Movement. It's still there, unless someone else has deleted it. So what I deleted was just the redirect to it left over from the move page function. (No that any of this matters too much. At least I'm not fussed by it.) Maybe sometime over the next few days I'll find the time to contribute an article or two - I've hardly been here all week. Best -- Tannin 06:51, 26 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Help moving a page back
Hello, I'm looking for an administrator to help moving a page back to its original title. I first moved John Watson to John D. Watson because there was at least one other John Watson with mistaken links to the page and another that could be disambiguated. But after moving, I started in on updating pages that linked there to eliminate the redirect. I quickly realized that there were dozens of pages and that was more work than I wanted to do (especially with the system being slow for me today). So I want to move James D. Watson back to James Watson and simply and a note at the top of that page with links to the other Watsons. Please let me know if you can help with this or if I should try someone else. Thanks Bkonrad | Talk 16:24, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Sometimes my fingers don't type what I'm thinking (or perhaps I just wasn't thinking too carefully). But I meant to reverse James Watson and James D. Watson (the DNA guy). Sorry for the confusion. Bkonrad | Talk 16:39, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Derbent
I'll delete the Derbent/Temp page. Thanks for reminding me and for taking it off copyvio. I was a little hesitant at first, because the person who posted the original and then said he has permission has behaved erratically at times. I wasn't entirely sure I could believe him, but I think it's ok now. Isomorphic 17:44, 30 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Juror Number Four
"It is alleged" that she flashed the OK sign. Apparently not everybody saw it, but the national news keeps showing the trial court illustrator's drawing of her doing it. RickK | Talk 01:29, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Thanks for the VfD assist
I just figured out it was probably the missing underlines. Niteowlneils 04:52, 1 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Now you've done it...
You deleted Daniel C. Boyer, something which I support, but I suspect that extensive debate and possibly undeletion will ensue shortly. You may also wish to do something about Talk:Daniel C. Boyer and the /archive pages linked from talk. They could perhaps be moved to be subpages of User talk: Daniel C. Boyer. Best wishes, UninvitedCompany 17:54, 1 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, I thought that may be a storm brewing. However, when I saw it listed on VfD I reread the candidates for speedy deletion and found that redirects to user pages was listed. I'll look into your other suggestion. - Tεxτurε 19:28, 1 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- But the whole reason for this user page was a lack of agreement as to whether there should be an article in the main namespace. --Daniel C. Boyer 22:00, 1 Apr 2004 (UTC)
VFD
When you move items off vfd that have no consensus to delete, please copy the dicussion onto the article's talk page. This way, people don't renominate an article for deletion, or when it does get renominated, people can judge from previous comments. Cheers, Jiang 22:31, 4 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- I was not aware of any policy the last time I deleted from VfD (March 31). Since then a policy is forming at Wikipedia_talk:Votes_for_deletion#What_to_do_with_the_mediawiki_pages_after_VfD. I will follow whatever policy is agreed upon. Until then I plan to add it to the talk page, remove it, then add a link to the talk page history so it can be found. Is there a specific article you would like me to do this to retroactively? - Tεxτurε 22:40, 4 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Signature
I like your signature. It gives your name a bit of "texture" ;-) --Uncle Ed 14:15, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Conium/Temp
Hi Texture, Done. I did it a few days ago, but didn't realise Temp was case-sensitive, so I've moved Conium/temp to Conium/Temp now - MPF 21:26, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks; I guess Conium/temp can also be deleted now? (it is now a targetless redirect). Will do on adding links in talk page in future. - MPF 21:36, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks again! - MPF 21:44, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Mahmuei
I'm sure. The paragraph starting with "There is a shrine in the village" is a direct copy-paste from [1] (http://jamali.8k.com/MAHMUEI.HTM) (this ext. link is also in the article). Best wishes, Meelar 22:07, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware. Where is this? I couldn't find it on the page or the edit summary... Yours, Meelar 22:11, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- (Smacks forehead) Oh, that Mahmuei! Seriously, I'm sorry, I had completely forgotten about this. At any rate, the only assurance I have on the copyvio comes from User talk:Hamirrow. Whether or not this constitutes appropriate permission, I'm not sure--there must be a policy on this, but I don't know it. Yours, Meelar 22:20, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Nah, I think we can take the warning off. Again, apologies for the confusion. Meelar 22:28, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)

About your $5 bill images
You have the $5 bill the way it looked sometime between 1928 and 2000. Can you use http://www.currencygallery.org to find the way the $5 bill has looked EXACTLY during various times withing then?? If you go there, you will be able to see a more complete history of the $5 bill, and after that, you may expand the U.S. five dollar bill page at Wikipedia. 66.32.117.12 16:01, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)
User sig
Hey Texture, I had a question about your signature. How do you get that one central character to link to your talkpage? I tried doing something like that but couldn't figure out how. The {{CURRENTDAY}} feature updates itself automatically, right? Is there a feature that puts down the time/date of the edit. Please respond on my talk page, and thanks in advance, Alex S 02:12, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC).
Res Gestae
Thanks! It's a good thing that anon created it first, I was actually going to write that article a couple of months ago, but I never got around to it...now we should probably find more placed to link it from. Adam Bishop 17:56, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC)
VfD Hdg problem
Do you now understand it precisely? It's like what i call a (classic) "discord on parsing of illegal headings", and i assume it has nothing to do with the box, but rather with the inclusion. But i'm guessing.
In any case, i hunted it with binary search for how far down the problem started. And the unparsed heading that appeared in the rendering was a hint. --Jerzy(t) 03:04, 2004 Apr 9 (UTC)
- Good job. Angela was trying to include the VfU vote since it kept getting deleted since it had jumped from one discussion to the other. I don't think any of us realized what that would do. I tried to wall it off and see if that would help. I'll have to keep in mind your discovery. - Tεxτurε 19:55, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Please consider reverting your signature to the standard lay out. I find it very difficult to know where to click to get to your talk page. Thanks, Kingturtle 19:36, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Sex, or the lack thereof
Sorry about the List of virgins turning into an actual article. I hope List of bachelors won't bother you...

Mistaken identity
Hi Tex - appologies for sounding short - I am a little tired of unfounded accusations today. In all seriousness - is there any thing that I can do about a user pretending to be my sock-puppet? Is there any way to demonstrate he is not using the same (or even, I suspect, a remotely similar) IP? Thanks, The Trolls of Navarone 22:56, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- But I'm not pretending to be you! In fact, most I vehemently deny it. Telgur the Trollslayer 23:03, 9 Apr 2004 (UTC)
