Hi there, you don't know me but I'm familiar with a lot of your contributions from my few years of anonymous use. It's good to have you back on the project. ps. The picture of pear Tree house isn't there anymore - I really wanted to know what it looked like. illWill 22:12, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I see you're back from your extended leave too - what is it that makes us return? Good to see you back, anyway. -- Francs2000 | Talk (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Francs2000&action=edit&section=new) [[]] 13:24, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Unless it's at Special:Blockip I don't know either. You could always block them from Recent changes but that depends on you finding the change they've made of course.
Colleboration of the fortnight is Welsh people? (Just saw it on your user page) OMGs... -- Francs2000 | Talk (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Francs2000&action=edit&section=new) [[]] 13:28, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Welcome back! That's the most pleasant surprise I've had on Wikipedia in a long time! Lupo 14:57, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Welcome back. When User:172 said he was going on hiatus or leaving, they were falling over themselves to remove his admin status.

I think Wikipedia is good for articles like quantum mechanics, but people who think articles like Palestine will ever be NPOV, or fair, or whatnot, are fooling themselves, and will ultimately get frustrated and leave, as you did. I look at people like you and 172 and I see "the cabal" here wasting your time and frustrating your efforts until you give up and leave. That's a win for them, a loss for you.

As I said, I think Wikipedia can always be the source for articles about quantum mechanics and whatnot. But as the old saying goes, when you lie down with the dogs you wake up with fleas. It's no surprise that a western, Ayn Rand reading, millionaire porn[1] (http://babes.bomis.com) magnate who sends nasty notes to his female admins would have a site that looks and acts the way it does with him in control of the means of production. Especially from my perspective as a lowly user, who sees the only admins who might give a damn like you or 172 and so forth constantly quitting in frustration. Wikipedia will always be good for the quantum mechanics articles, and will always be bad for the Palestine articles. It's historical, political, economic and philosophical articles will always be an echo of what the corporate media puts out, except Wikipedia gets people to do all the work for them for free.

It's inevitable that in the domain of contentious issues, specialist wiki's will arise. Many already have - Red Wiki, Anarchopedia (http://eng.anarchopedia.org), Demopedia, dKosopedia and so forth. Instead of getting frustrated here, I am freely expending my creativity in these places with a like-minded community of people. The only thing it is lacking is a critical mass of users, but my contributions are going to help build that critical mass. I think at the very least, if we write an original article on say the Workers Revolutionary Party, we should put it not only on Wikipedia, but an appropriate specialist wiki, in the case of the WRP, Red Wiki.

Regarding, US-centrism...are you aware that the foundation of all (of the dozens I've checked so far) the historical articles on Wikipedia are on histories written by the US Army? To counter this, I have been working on getting copyright-free translations of the Great Soviet Encyclopedia on the alternative wiki's. The GSE is online actually, but is in Russian. Are you sure that Image:IBM microdrive.jpg is in the public domain? The website seems to indicate (via google translate) that it is only noncomercial (which is no longer free). I bring this up because I was about to move it to the commons. Thanks for clearing this up. This link is Broken 04:44, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
