It is a shame that this user was driven away because of religious fanaticalism at Wikimedia. Is it true that Kate's Tools would still function if Wikipedia has just one copy of some Microsoft software on one of their servers? Truly an ugly precedent to limit usability in the name of religious obsession. Don't everyone volunteer all at once to port each of the tools to LAMP.... Uris 03:08, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Leaving Wikimedia?
Hi Kate,
are you going on a wiki-vacation? What's wrong? If you feel like talking about it, let me know. You've done an amazing amount of work for the projects so far and I hope you'll decide to come back at some point.--Eloquence* 00:39, Dec 14, 2004 (UTC)
- We miss you! →Raul654 19:35, Dec 17, 2004 (UTC)
- Kate, I hope you enjoy wiki vacation. I miss you but if you have a good tike, it is my consolation. And I hope strongly you come back someday. Not only your amazing tools but you self, your cheerful and sympatic character is our great treasure. Japanese wikipedians who bookmark your tools worry about you; your absence make them so reluctant like "(´・ω・`)ショボーン (by Tietew)". and asked me how are you going. Yes we miss you really. We hope to see you again. --Aphaea 07:22, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Kate:
I also miss you and: the namechecker tool. It was so nice that you have implemented this, it was the first step towards Single-User Login SUL, but now, it is gone. --Wikinaut 01:12, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- I haven't had any interactions with you(AFAIKR), but you seem like a good editor, and it's great too see someone else writing interesting tools for Wikipedia. If there is anything that we can do to help you to return, I'd like to know. Hope to see you editing again someday, JesseW 08:15, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I'm so glad to see you back, Kate!
Kate: it's so good to see you back. Wikipedia just wasn't the same without your "tools"! You know how I love to keep my edit count up to date, and I owe it to you that such a thing is possible. Merry Christmas! (It's past in my time zone, but not in yours - I think). David Cannon 10:49, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Edit attribution
Hi Kate, I don't want to bother you, but you helped me out once with edit attribution. I have found that all the edits are mine from this IP address: 130.238.65.18 If you have the time to help out, I'd be very grateful.--Wiglaf 21:38, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I <3 Kate!
I certainly don't know Kate, but I heart Kate anyway. Kate rocks! Kate Kate Kate! Yeah! 138.88.196.21 02:36, 6 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Me too! I love Kate too. She does so much good work :) 69.240.131.156 03:37, 6 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Me also. I do hope you'll be back, Kate. We miss you so much. David Cannon 10:11, 6 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Change of Username
Hi Kate, I noticed that until, say, October 2004 you were the one who changed user names on Wikipedia:Changing username. When you stopped changing them, nobody took over. Maybe you could have a look at the growing list of unchanged usernames, or else recommend someone to me who could do the job? Thanks in advance! --Hippalus 08:32, 10 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I just got here... and a Wikipedia without Kate seems less fun and friendly. Plz somebody give Kate whatever she asks for, its the Wiki thing to do! BTW, why do you prefer lines over Headings? I find content menus invaluable for quick navigation. Just curious. - RoyBoy [∞] 20:49, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Featured article by email
Kate - I'm now officially looking for someone to help revive the featured article by email. I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at user:Raul654/FA and give input there. →Raul654 00:42, Jan 28, 2005 (UTC)
SQL Queries
I draw your attention to Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#SQL Queries. - Mark 09:42, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)
When I saw Kate's tools down last month I didn't realize what had happened. But now I've visited here, learned about it and am very glad to find that you and they stayed. On another note, I was wondering if I might humbly make a feature request: on the edit counter would it be possible to also show the number of edits a user has in each namespace (e.g. images, articles, talk, etc.)? If it's easy to do it would be very much appreciated but otherwise don't worry about it. Thanks again for all you've done and especially for putting up so patiently with so much BS. -Lommer | talk 02:27, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC) P.S. you can reply here if you wish
- Not really possible. It requires either 16 queries per request or one long GROUP BY, and either is a bit too hard on the server to make it generally available. (I did try it at one point, and the speed wasn't really acceptable. Possibly with the new database schema in 1.5 it may be feasible). Kate.
Hi there, how are you doing? Hope that everything's well with you :). Thanks a lot for making the script, the FA by email is being enjoyed by a lot of people thanks to it (over 1,600 last time I checked). However, there seems to be a bit of a problem with the script. I haven't been able to check if it happens with the old script yet because, well, it doesn't work ;). In today's wikiquote of the day (http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Wikiquote:Quote_of_the_day/February_11,_2005) the person's name was "Leó Szilárd", but the script outputted "Leó Szilárd". The URL generated by the script was also wrong[1] (http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Le%C3%83%C2%B3_Szil%C3%83%C2%A1rd). Luckily, I caught this before sending it out, so it wasn't a problem today. If you have a couple minutes, maybe you could take a quick look at what's going on?
Thanks, Frazzydee|✍ 00:27, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Hi. I just heard about the arugments you had at one time with the foundation. I just wanted to drop a line to offer support. JuntungWu 11:36, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Could you tell me which information/edits, if any, were lost in the crash yesterday? Mgm|(talk) 08:29, Feb 23, 2005 (UTC)
Many thanks on the efforts you gave during the Great Crash of 2005. You deserve a nice long sleep now :) Dysprosia 09:25, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)

On the suggestion of Dysprosia, I'm putting you Nemo of Honour on this page rather than on the User page. Thank you again ! Rama 09:38, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Inquiry about Kate's Tool
Hi Kate. I am running my own wiki. There aren't really any rules there :P other than quality articles , and the scope is not as wide as here.
Would you be able to set me up with Kate's Tools or show me where I can get them from? Or are they non-functional with wiki sullstop? --Hierarchypedia 00:32, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Sockpuppet check
Jamesday seems to be away, could you please do the sockpuppet check I requested on his talk page? -- Mgm|(talk) 08:43, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for the great work
I just want to thank you for all the great work you're doing around here - the disaster recovery work, your EditCount tool, all the admin and maintenance work you do... And I just learned that you created the Live Recent Changes too! You're great. - Marcika 00:27, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Devil's Lake
There is an article naming dispute over Devil's Lake. I am of the opinion that Devil's Lake should redirect to Devil's Lake (North Dakota), while another editor, DreamGuy, prefers to have Devil's Lake point to a disambiguation page. Since you have edited the article, I would appreciate your comments on this matter at Talk:Devil's Lake (North Dakota). Thank you. --Alexwcovington (talk) 05:34, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)
