About me

I am 16 years old and an Albertan. I have an interest in modern mythology, religion, politics, education and computing, and am dedicated to learning a lot about them all as quickly as I can. Despite my having written most of the original Vampire Lifestyle page, I am not part of that sect (for anyone who wonders, I had a girlfriend who was). However, I do hack into telephone systems (thus my edits to phreaking). I am an assistant system admin at my school and the sole sysadmin in my home (which has two linux servers and a lot of win2k boxes). I am a gifted student, with an IQ of above 140 and a focus on verbal-linguistic (see Multiple Intelligence). My summers are spent acting in Summerstock (a drama group in Calgary), working on computers and sailing. I am also a debater, and have qualified for the ADSA Regional Senior Open in 2005.

For those wondering a certain thing about my username that is ordinarily a sensitive and hidden topic, you were right. You may verify your suspicions, if so desired, by checking my edit summary. Caw.

Adminship

My request for adminship is currently being voted on until June 21st 2005. The vote is accessable at requests for adminship.

My Contributions

I regularily look through random articles looking for stubs, and tag and try to expand those which are, in addition to other various chores. I have made major contributions to Vampire Lifestyle, and I edit wherever I see fit. I also consider it very important to be involved in VfD discussions and PoV disputes (though do not deliberately create the latter).

My current major project is adding all necessary pages in the Dewey Decimal System categorisation.

In light of my seething hate of incorrect punctuation breaking up sentence structure, and for love of a decent semicolon, I am involved in WikiProject Punctuation.

What I Am Not

  • A deletionist. I believe that if a page is a borderline case, it should be voted on, and that stubs and small topics should be included. After all, wikipedia is not limited in space anywhere near as much as a book
  • A troll. Sometimes I look at other edits a person has made if they have done something I strongly disagree with, but only to ensure I have not missed a smelly mess
  • At all tolerant of POVs, especially the capitalist ones
  • A friend of people who want to list pages on VfD that have already been voted as kept, or constantly revert useful work, or insidiously attempt to discredit pages with unwarranted tags

Falcon Kirtaran's WikiWisdom

  • No matter what you think the ArbCom has done, vandalising the RfAr page is not a productive way of voicing your dissent.
  • If you feel a deep discomfort with something, there is probably a bigger issue that you aren't letting yourself get at. You should look a little bit closer at it, to see why you are opposed.
  • No large amount of people would, in this modern day and age, massively hallucinate the same thing in a first world country and then collaborate about it and continue the hallucination. Therefore, certain things that the Church and other institutions have not recognised or perhaps actively oppose are not in fact entirely false. Keep this in mind when editing controvertial pages.
  • Age is not the sole factor of maturity. Some people are deliberately kept at a low intellectual level (in order to keep them to their function), or stay there regardless of age. Also, some people (while not necessarily eighteen years of age) are more developed than you. Keep this in mind when deciding maturity.
  • RfA is not a place to take out your grudges. Anyone who is not a complete idiot or at risk of abusing their powers should be allowed an adminship, if they want it and have some use. This said, if you hate them there is probably some reason. Keep this in mind while voting on RfA.
  • Even if everyone is not equal, they should be innocent until proven guilty. Just as maturity is not age, user quality is not quantity of edits. Keep this in mind while judging credibility.
  • Good formatting and uniform style helps make Wikipedia look much better. Therefore, punctuation and wikification edits are important too. Keep this in mind when deciding worth.
  • No matter what the House of Commons tries to tell you, politics is almost never productive. Wikipedia is made better by edits, not bickering and shrewd persuasion. This said, debate is a necessary moderator. Keep this in mind while editing talkpages.
