University of North Florida

The University of North Florida ("UNF") is a public university located in Jacksonville, Florida. It was founded in 1969 and held its first classes on its brand new campus in 1972. UNF's campus is a state-protected bird sanctuary featuring miles of nature trails and numerous lakes and ponds. Initial enrollment was 2,027 students, today this figure is over 14,000. The current president is John Delaney.

Academics
UNF is divided into five colleges, which offer 50 undergraduate majors and 25 graduate degrees. UNF's Department of Music is very well known for its Jazz Studies Program.
In 2003, the average incoming freshman had a weighted GPA of 3.5, and an SAT score of 1140. Undergraduate tuition is around $100 per credit for Florida residents, and $500 per credit for out-of-state students, with a typical load of 30 credits per year.

Athletics
The school's sports teams are called the Ospreys. They compete at the NCAA Division II level, with the exception of men's golf and women's swimming, which compete at the NCAA Division I level. The Ospreys are a member of the Peach Belt Conference. UNF competes in 17 sports and has won the Sunshine State Conference's all-sports title four times. UNF has captured the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup three times. The Ospreys have captured four national titles - men's golf in 1991 and 1993, and women's tennis in 1986 and 1994.
