Tyrolean Airways (German: Tiroler Luftfahrt AG) is an airline that is a member of the Austrian Airlines Group and the Star Alliance, operating the Austrian Arrows brand of scheduled commercial passenger flights.
Code Data
History
Based in Innsbruck, the subsidiary specialises in low-passanger flights for Austrian Airlines. These include internal flights within Austria, and flights from Vienna International Airport to Eastern European destinations.
The airline was founded as Aircraft Innsbruck by Gernot Langes-Swarovski and Christian Schwemberger-Swarovski in 1978. Two years later it started operations as Tyrolean Airways.
In 2004, as part of an effort by its parent company to consolidate its brand, the fleet was rebranded as Austrian Arrows with livery changed to match that of Austrian Airlines. Airline operations, however, continued to operate independently by Tyrolean from its Innsbruck base.
