Thomas Seckford

Thomas Seckford (1515-1587), born near Woodbridge, Suffolk, England. Thomas became Queen Elizabeth I’s Master of Requests for poor men’s causes. In 1564, she gave him the manor of Woodbridge, and he became a benefactor to both the church and town. He founded almshouses and paid for the old Woodbridge abbey to be rebuilt. His wealth is still benefiting Woodbridge today.
