Thomas Andrews (politician)

Thomas Hiram Andrews, b. March 27, 1953, was a politician from Maine and a Democrat.
A 1976 graduate of Bowdoin College, Andrews served in the Maine State House (1983-1985) and Maine State Senate (1985-1990) before being elected to two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives (1991-1995).
In 1994 he did not run for reelection to the House but declared his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Democrat George J. Mitchell. Andrews lost the Senate election to his 2nd District colleague, Republican Olympia Snowe 60%-36%; he was succeeded in the House by Republican James Longley Jr.
