Merge? Permutation Cipher vs Transposition Cipher
Clearly, a permutation cipher is a type of transposition cipher; but, oddly, you can also view any transposition cipher as a permutation cipher with a permutation size equal to the size of the message! It is probably worth having separate articles, on reflection. Matt 13:20, 15 Mar 2004 (UTC)
They're not quite the same, consider the first example given in transposition cipher where the key is the row length. It can be applied using that same key to a message of any size. To do the same with a permutation cipher would require a variable keysize depending on message size. --Imran 16:24, 15 Mar 2004 (UTC)
