Talk:Blind credential
|
Does anyone have any references for this topic? I can't find mention of the phrase "blind credential" anywhere on the internet outside of Wikipedia (and Infosecpedia); a google for: "blind credential" -wikipedia -encyclopedia doesn't turn up much. — Matt 14:37, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Matt, I can't produce a reference just now either, but this the idea is used (if memory serves, and it has not in one unfortuante recent instance) used in some electronic cash protocols, including (I hope memory is working again!) David Chaum's digicash system. Does that help at all?
- Thinking about it a bit (de novo, as it were) it seems that such an arrangement would be required in any competent anonymous payment system and in any anonymous contribution system. Thus, some such is perhaps part of the Mafia protocol. ww 15:34, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Perhaps it is used with a different name? I'd try and contact the original author, but he's been hard-banned! — Matt 15:38, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Blind signature — Matt 15:53, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Matt, Have added see also link to blind signature, pending clarification here. The econcensus link is unhelpful on this point and needs considerable work in any case. Hard banned!!? Any suggestion anywhere as to why?
- I think the concept of relevance, as for instance in a live topic here, electronic voting. Chaum has a technically elegant proposal in re this, but of course those with power to adopt/determine are color blind to quality design in these matters. Apropos of nothing WP -- have you heard about the Florida county (recall it was Florida which couldn't count its votes in 2000 (though others had trouble as well), and a century earlier in the Hayes/Tilden election) in which one candidate won by something like 12 votes. But the trial electronic system lost (totally untraceably and unrecoverably, something like 170 votes that are known about!! Words are inadequate... Dumbth does not reach the intensity of disgust and rage...
- There are times I want to get on the next Mars taxi and leave this mess behind!!!
