Should we shift this to amateur telescope making? --Robert Merkel
I am new to wikipedia, but isn't the page already called Amateur telescope making? can you explain? Kurt Eichenberger
- Well, Robert Merkel asked the question back in 2002 July 23, and maybe the article was named differently then and someone did shift it, although I see no name change in the history. -Wikibob | Talk 23:14, 2004 Apr 6 (UTC)
A mirror is nonconductive, so I think it's not possible to "electrically charge" it during aluminization. My understanding is that the atoms just fly straight through the vacuum. I'm going to change the text.
- Could this be a static charge like what will easily form, for example, on plastic objects. This has been my impression, although I am not that familiar with vacuum plating. --212.54.17.234 19:16, 31 May 2004 (UTC)
Dobsonian
"Dobsonian" is, according to the link, a type of telescope mount, not a type of telescope. The following therefore makes little sense: "The most common telescope design for the amateur telescope maker is the Dobsonian Telescope. The dobsonian very simple and easy to make. A Dobsonian telescope can be optimized for both planetary and deep sky observing. It is not suitable for astrophotography because it does not have the ability to automatically track the sky." --Jsnow 05:02, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Good point, this term may refer to either the mount or the telescope design that uses this mount. Duk 14:58, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
