Stafford is a town located in Genesee County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,409.
The Town of Stafford was incorporated in 1820. The town lies between in the eastern half of the county.

History
The town was first settled in 1801. Stafford was formed from parts of the Town of Batavia and the Town of Le Roy. Part of Stafford was taken to form the Town of Pavilion in 1842.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 80.9 km² (31.2 mi²). 80.6 km² (31.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.35% water.
The New York State Thruway passes across the town.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,409 people, 909 households, and 695 families residing in the town. The population density is 29.9/km² (77.4/mi²). There are 997 housing units at an average density of 12.4/km² (32.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.72% White, 1.08% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. 0.25% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 909 households out of which 31.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.3% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.5% are non-families. 18.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.65 and the average family size is 3.03.
In the town the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 101.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.8 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $49,516, and the median income for a family is $54,667. Males have a median income of $35,548 versus $24,375 for females.
