Southlake, Texas

Southlake is a city located primarily in Tarrant County, Texas. A small northernly region of the city is located in Denton County. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 21,519.
Southlake is well known for its Southlake Town Square (http://www.southlaketownsquare.com/) project, a massive shopping center located on State Highway 114 and Southlake Boulevard. It is one of the most popular shopping centers in Tarrant County, especially when judged in proportion to the population of Southlake. A plan was approved in March 2005 that will more than double its area.
Sabre Holdings, the owner of Sabre Systems, is headquartered in Southlake.
The Dallas Burn (now F.C. Dallas) were located in Southlake before they moved to the Cotton Bowl. They plan to move again to Frisco, Texas in 2005.
Southlake is also home to the Carroll Dragons. Belonging to the Carroll Independent School District, the Carroll Dragons high school football team has been ranked #1 in the country and has lived up to its claim by winning the state championship in 2005.
Geography
Southlake is located at 32°56'48" North, 97°8'43" West (32.946678, -97.145230)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 58.1 km² (22.5 mi²). 56.7 km² (21.9 mi²) of it is land and 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.45% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 21,519 people, 6,414 households, and 5,958 families residing in the city. The population density is 379.6/km² (983.0/mi²). There are 6,614 housing units at an average density of 116.7/km² (302.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.54% White, 1.39% African American, 0.25% Native American, 1.79% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.81% from other races, and 1.20% from two or more races. 3.67% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 6,414 households out of which 60.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 88.0% are married couples living together, 3.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 7.1% are non-families. 5.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.35 and the average family size is 3.48.
In the city the population is spread out with 37.1% under the age of 18, 3.9% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 3.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 100.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $131,549, and the median income for a family is $136,023. Males have a median income of $100,000 versus $46,042 for females. The per capita income for the city is $47,597. 1.8% of the population and 1.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.0% of those under the age of 18 and 2.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
