Scooter (Muppet)
|
Scooter is a bespectacled character from The Muppet Show. He was the go-fer backstage, although he occasionally participates in stage productions. He is orange with a darker orange sprout of hair.
Scooter's rich uncle J.P. owned the theater where Kermit the Frog and company performed their shows. Scooter originally often used that to his advantage to get his way, with the others being too afraid of being evicted. Eventually, his antagonistic role was gradually disregarded, and he became a legitimate assistant to Kermit.
In the Muppet Babies animated series, he was redesigned as a brainy, computer-knowledgeable infant and given a tomboyish twin sister named Skeeter.
Scooter was performed by Richard Hunt until his death in 1992. The character was largely retired until 1999, when he appeared in the film Muppets from Space, performed by Adam Hunt; and in the 2002 TV movie It's A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, performed by Brian Henson.
