Rybinsk

Rybinsk (Ры́бинск) is a city in Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia, at the confluence of the Volga and Sheksna. It is known from the year 1071. First it was named Ust-Sheksna, in 1504 renamed Rybnaya Sloboda, in 1777 renamed Rybinsk, in 1946 renamed Shcherbakov (after Aleksandr Shcherbakov), in 1957 renamed Rybinsk again, in 1984 renamed Andropov (after Yuri Andropov), in 1989 renamed Rybinsk again.
Population about 250,000.
Contains some industries, railway station, river port, hydroelectric power station.
