Roscoe is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in Sullivan County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 597.
Roscoe is in the southwest part of the Town of Rockland, adjacent to New York Route 17.

History
The community was once called "Westfield" or "Westfield Flats."
During the construction of New York Route 17, the section near Roscoe was one of the last to be completed, requiring travelers to exit onto the local trunk roads.
Geography
Roscoe is just inside the boundary of the Catskill State Park. The community is at the junction of Beaver Kill and Willowemoc Creek.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.9 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.9 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 597 people, 261 households, and 157 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 311.5/km² (801.6/mi²). There are 314 housing units at an average density of 163.8/km² (421.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.14% White, 1.17% African American, 0.00% Native American, 1.68% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 1.84% from two or more races. 2.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 261 households out of which 28.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.4% are married couples living together, 10.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.8% are non-families. 35.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.29 and the average family size is 2.96.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 21.8% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 22.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 88.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.8 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $35,625, and the median income for a family is $45,577. Males have a median income of $41,618 versus $19,500 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $17,307. 4.8% of the population and 2.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 14.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
Additional Roscoe facts
Roscoe calls itself the "Trout Town, USA." The community is a traditional stopping point for people traveling along Route 17 (between New York City and Binghamton, New York) because the facilities are right by the access road to the highway. These include a diner, gas stations, and convenience stores.
