"Revol" was released by the Manic Street Preachers on August 1 1994, and was the second single released from the The Holy Bible album that was released at the end of the month. The verses are comprised of lists of famous and controversial names in history being dismissed one-by-one in short - and often insulting - staccato lines (such as 'Chamberlain, you see God in you', 'Pol Pot, withdrawn traces, bye-bye' ... 'Che Guevara, you're all target now', 'Brezhnev, celibate self-importance').
The track is considered an autobiographical account of Richey’s attempts to hold down any meaningful relationships.
It was noted as being the only song of their own that the Manics refused to play live, due to Nicky Wire's belief that the song 'was crap'. However, this ended during the Past/Present/Future tour, during which Revol was played at all dates.
The CD included "Too Cold Here", "Love Torn Us Under" and also "Love's Sweet Exile" October 29 1991 - track number 6 from the debut album Generation Terrorists February 10 1992, and featuring guest vocalist Traci Lords.
The 10" also included "Too Cold Here" along with "You Love Us (Heavenly Version)" May 7 1991 and a live version recorded in Bangkok of "Life Becoming A Landslide" February 7 1994, originally track number five on Gold Against the Soul June 20 1993. The cassette only had "Too Cold Here" extra.
