Popstars is an international reality television program and a precursor to the Idol series. The show launched in New Zealand and formed the all-girl group True Bliss.
In United Kingdom a second series, called "Popstars: The Rivals", set about creating an all-girl group (to be managed by Louis Walsh) and an all-boy group (managed by Pete Waterman). The race for the Christmas chart number one saw Walsh's Girls Aloud easily beating One True Voice, who quickly disbanded.
