Bardot was an Australian pop group best known as the stars of the first series of Australian Popstars in 2000. As a consequence of that program, they achieved a number one album and single in that year in Australia.

Popstars
The members of Bardot were selected on the Seven Network in the early programs of Popstars with Belinda Chapple, Katie Underwood, Sally Polihronas, Sophie Monk and Chantelle Barrios initially selected to join a female pop group similar to the Spice Girls. The band was named after French actress Brigitte Bardot. Chantelle Barrios was asked to leave in mysterious circumstances early on and was replaced by Tiffany Wood.
"Popstars" was one of the most popular programs on Australian television in 2000. In addition, Bardot was sponsored by the Austereo radio network, New Idea magazine and Warner Brothers records. With this support, Bardot's first single "Poison" debuted at number one on the charts and went double platinum. Their first album Bardot debuted at number one in that year. Their second single "These Days" was also a success.
Katie Underwood left Bardot in 2001 to appear in an Australian revival of Hair which unfortunately fell over before the show appeared on stage due to financial problems. Bardot released its second album "Play it Like That" in 2001 featuring the single "ASAP" which put the gitrls back on top. "I Need Somebody", the follow up single, showed the girl's new funky side. Their final single "Love Will Find A Way" found the girls saying goodbye in the song and the video. They broke up on May 2nd, 2002.
Solo careers
Three members of the band Katie Underwood, Sophie Monk and Tiffany Wood (now Tiffani Wood) have so far gone on to have top 40 singles as solo artists. However, Tiffani Wood has stated in an interview that the band made little money due to costs of shooting videos and promotion costs. Sophie Monk has achieved the most success with her debut single "Inside Outside" and debut album Calendar Girl. She is currently working on her second album.
