Poland is a town located in Chautauqua County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,467.
The Town of Poland was incorporated in 1832. The town is on the county's eastern border.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 95.5 km² (36.9 mi²). 95.2 km² (36.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.27% water.
The Southern Tier Expressway (Route 86 / 17) passes across the northern part of the town.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,467 people, 940 households, and 708 families residing in the town. The population density is 25.9/km² (67.1/mi²). There are 990 housing units at an average density of 10.4/km² (26.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.14% White, 0.69% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.04% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.24% from other races, and 0.57% from two or more races. 1.18% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
