Pidgeotto (Pigeon (ピジョン Pijon) in the original Japanese) is a Stage 1 normal/flying-type Pokémon that evolves from Pidgey at level 18 and further evolves into Pidgeot at level 36. Pidgeotto usually possesses a large territory, with its nest built in the center; it constantly patrols its territory, searching for prey that it attacks and carries back to its nest with its sharp claws. Pidgeotto fiercely protects its territory by pecking at any intruder it comes across.
Pidgeotto is vulnerable to Electric, Ice and Rock, and strong against Grass, Ground, Bug and Ghost.

Name origin
The name Pidgeotto is a variation of the name Pidgey, from whom this Pokémon evolves. The Japanese name Pigeon derives from the name of a bird called the "pigeon".
Availability
In Pokémon Red/Blue, Yellow and Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal, Pidgeotto can either be obtained by evolving Pidgey or on a number of routes. In Pokémon Sapphire/Ruby, Pidgeotto can only be obtained by trading from Leaf Green or Fire Red.
Anime Appearances
In the Pokémon Anime, Ash Ketchum had a rather strong Pidgeotto throughout the Kanto saga. On the way to the Orange Islands, it evolved into a Pidgeot. At this point, he decided to free it, after a heated battle with a Fearow.
