Paul Gottfried

Paul Gottfried is a professor of humanities at Elizabethtown College. He is a self-identified paleoconservative, author of several books, and is a columnist for Lew Rockwell's website and for VDARE, an anti-immigration website.

Gottfried writes on issues of culture and politics. His political columns are notable for his attacks on neoconservatives, whom he blames not only for pulling the United States' foreign policy too much towards Israel, but also for conspiring to attack him personally. One such conspiracy is alleged to have prevented him from getting an endowed professorship at Catholic University of America. He wrote in 2004 about the 1988 incident that Norman Podhoretz and other neoconservatives celebrities conspired to convince the braindead gentile administrators to withdraw their job offer. [1] (http://www.lewrockwell.com/gottfried/gottfried66.html) He also alleges that neocons were behind the negative professional evaluation that he received in 2002. Gottfried also became involved in a heated editorial exchange with National Review writer Jonah Goldberg over their philosophical differences. The dispute was initially present in their respective editorial and blog comments about each other. At the 2003 CPAC conference, which Gottfried did not attend, a Gottfried supporter approached Goldberg and the two began arguing their respective views. The incident quickly attracted a crowd and resulted in Goldberg allegedly shouting that "Gottfried is only a crank!" Gottfried responded with a column attacking Goldberg, and their disdain for each other apparently continues to the present.[3] (http://www.lewrockwell.com/gottfried/gottfried44.html)
