Northavon

Northavon was a district in the English county of Avon from April 1, 1974 to April 1, 1996. It covered districts formerly in Gloucestershire. Avon was abolished on that day, and Northavon was merged with its neighbour Kingswood to form a new unitary South Gloucestershire.
It covered most of the area of the present South Gloucestershire apart from the urban area east of Bristol.
Northavon remains a parliamentary constituency.
