South Gloucestershire is a local government area in South West England. It was created in 1996 when the administrative county of Avon was abolished, by the merger of the districts of Kingswood and Northavon. The district borders the city of Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. South Gloucestershire lies within the traditional and ceremonial county of Gloucestershire. Wikipedia's articles about things and places in England are organised primarily by ceremonial county, so many articles in this section are also in other subcategories of Gloucestershire.
