Noel Edmonds is gunged on his show, Noel's House Party.
Noel Edmonds (born December_22 1948 in Ilford, Essex) is a popular British DJ and television presenter who made his name on BBC Radio 1 in the UK. Television series presented by him include:
  • Top of the Pops
  • Noel's House Party
  • Multi-coloured Swap Shop
  • Telly Addicts
  • Top Gear
  • Noel's Christmas Presents (A Christmas morning entertainment programme)

Edmonds began his broadcasting career with independent radio,, before moving to BBC Radio 1 in Early 1970, presenting a 2 hour Saturday afternoon show from 1-3pm. In July 1970, Noel took over from the sacked Kenny Everett on Saturday Mornings from 10am-12pm.

In October 1971, Noel took over a Sunday morning show from 10am-12pm, before taking over Radio 1's prestigious breakfast show from 1973 to 1978, gaining record audience figures.

Noel moved back to Sunday mornings in 1978 from 10am-1pm, where he remained until he left Radio 1 in 1983. Although he briefly returned in 1985, sitting in for Mike Read for 2 weeks on the Breakfast show & again in 1992, where he presented a special show, celebrating Radio 1's 25th Birthday.

He achieved new heights of popularity when he transferred to television, hosting children's Saturday morning programmes. He later moved to a Saturday early evening slot.

The nadir of his career came in autumn 1986, when his Late Late Breakfast Show was cancelled by the BBC following an accident in which Michael Lush, a viewer who had been selected to take part in a live stunt for the 'Whirly Wheel' section, was killed during rehearsal.1 The accident was apparently caused by lack of trained supervision.2

Edmonds soon returned to television with The Noel Edmonds Saturday Roadshow in 1988 which eventually morphed into the seminal Noel's House Party in 1991. This later series ran for eight years from the fictional town of "Crinkley Bottom". Mr. Blobby initially appeared in the celebrity Gotcha section, and became a regular icon of the show. The character even achieved the 1993 Christmas No. 1.

Noel's House Party was a staple of BBC1's autumn and spring schedules for several years. Several reformats could not save its declining popularity. In the final show, broadcast on March_20 1999, Edmonds appealed that viewers' memories should be kind to the show; a reasonable request considering the criticism which this very popular show received during its later seasons.

Edmonds was critical of Lancaster City Council's management of the Crinkley Bottom theme park in Morecambe which closed only a few months after its opening.

In 2003, he returned to radio, filling in for Johnnie Walker for 8 weeks on BBC Radio 2.

Although he has a very light-hearted personality on-air, he is a very successful executive, forming the Unique Group in 1985.

'The Curse of Noel Edmonds', a documentary tracing the rise and fall of his showbiz career, was broadcast by Channel 5 on November_9 2004.

In late 2004, Noel also appreared on a Christmas Radio play on local station BBC Radio Devon.
