Nā‘ālehu is a census-designated place and town in Hawai‘i County, Hawai‘i. As of the 2000 census, the town had a population of 919. It is the southernmost town in the United States. (See Extreme Points.)

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.6 km² (2.2 mi²). 5.6 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 919 people, 290 households, and 209 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 164.3/km² (426.1/mi²). There are 332 housing units at an average density of 59.3/km² (153.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 8.38% White, 0.33% African American, 0.11% Native American, 45.59% Asian, 13.82% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 31.45% from two or more races. 5.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 290 households out of which 31.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.9% are non-families. 25.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.17 and the average family size is 3.77.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 30.6% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 23.4% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.3 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $31,750, and the median income for a family is $36,964. Males have a median income of $23,625 versus $20,125 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $11,755. 20.4% of the population and 16.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 22.0% of those under the age of 18 and 6.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
