Mill Hill is a town in the London Borough of Barnet. Mill Hill enjoys the elevated house prices of London (and is oft quoted as the "new Hampstead"), yet is far away enough from the city centre to be classified as a quiet suburb. Mill Hill is split into three distinct areas: Mill Hill Village, Mill Hill Broadway and Mill Hill East.
Mill Hill Broadway
Built mostly in the 1920s and 1930s on farmland known as [The Hale]. One of the original Victorian farmhouses is still standing on Newcombe Park and is currently used as an office block. The central shopping street and home of the station is known as The Broadway (A5100) and houses a number of cosmopolitan cafes, restaurants, boutiques and drinking establishments. Bar Indigo is a popular night spot with the morally indefensible, disaffectioned youth of the area - and a number of becks. The station (Mill Hill Broadway) is connected to the Thameslink network and is part of the main north-bound trainline from London. Services run regularly into Central London's Kings Cross, Farringdon and City Thameslink as well as heading north to Luton Airport Mill Hill Broadway used to have a Tube station called The Hale, which was closed around 1942. Also home to Mill Hill Synagogue
Mill Hill Village
The historical heart of Mill Hill, can be tranced back to Norman times and is found in the Magna Carta. In beautiful surroundings, its cottages enjoy a peaceful and quiet environment, but a mere 5 minutes away from the bustle of Mill Hill Broadway and the M1. Mill Hill Village has a Public School, the Mill Hill Boy School, with its own rich traditions (though fagging was banned in the early 1980s), a Convent and a medical research center.
Mill Hill East
Mill Hill East is a quaint old town. It has a tube station (Mill Hill East) and thats really about it. The tube station is one of the oldest in London. And it shows.
Nearest places:
Mill Hill has a ThamesLink station, this is one of its major attractions with commuters coming from miles around just to "get off" at Mill Hill.
Mill Hill is also famous for the TGI Friday nearby where Adam Ant's girlfriend used to work and a Swimming Pool showroom - possibly the only one in the whole of the UK.
