Majed Mashaan Moqed (Arabic: ماجد مشعان موقد, also transliterated Moqued) was one of five men named by the FBI to be hijackers of American Airlines flight 77 in the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack.
History
Moqed was born in Annakhil, Saudi Arabia, near Medina. He dropped out of college, and was apparently recruited into al-Qaida in 1999. A friend in Saudi Arabia claimed he was last seen there in 2000, and said "he had a plan to visit the United States to learn English." In November of 2000, Moqed travelled to Bahrain and then Iran.
The FBI has stated that Moqed first arrived in the United States on May 2, 2001. Other news sources, however, report him in Fairfield, Connecticut in March of 2001 with fellow-hijackers Ahmed al-Ghamdi, Hani Hanjour, and Nawaf al-Hazmi. These reports say that the hijackers met with Eyad M. Alrababah, a Jordanian charged with providing false identification to at least 50 illegal aliens.[1] (http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/timeline/2002/ap030602.html)[2] (http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/timeline/2002/senatecommittee092602.html) The 9/11 Commission Report does not comment on this alleged meeting.
Moqed then moved in with several other hijackers in an apartment in Paterson, New Jersey. He was one of the five hijackers who asked for a state identity card on August 2, 2001. Moqed worked out at a Greenbelt, Maryland gym between September 2 and September 6 of the same year. He was also seen renting a pornographic video in the days before the attack.

Attack
According to the 9/11 Commission Report, Moqed set off the metal detector at the airport and was screened with a hand-wand. He passed the cursory inspection, and was able board his flight at 7:50. Moqed helped to hijack the plane and assisted Hani Hanjour in crashing the plane into the Pentagon at 9:37 am, killing 189 people.
