Lørenskog is a municipality in the county of Akershus, Norway. It is located just east of the capital, Oslo, with many main roads going trough. The name Lørenskog is derived from the word løren, leiren, meaning the mud and skog, meaning forest. Thus, the name means a muddy forest. This is not entirely fit, however.
Almost all the inhabitants lives in the nothern part of Lørenskog. The southern parts consists of forest, while farms and grain field occupy the space inbetween. In the district an important train station is situated. A very beautiful part of Lørenskog is Losby. This place is known for the waterwheel in Losby, which is represented in the municipalital badge of Lørenskog. Some of Losby is today a Golf course, along with lakes and farms.
