Although the sport of boxing has been seen by many as too brutal and violent of a sport to be enjoyed, nevertheless, a number of notable members of society have, historically, expressed their love for this sport.
It shall be mentioned also, that, on the other hand, many other celebrities have expressed disgust towards boxing: After the death of the first Davey Moore, Pope John XXIII called boxing "barbaric". Actress Millie Corretjer, who is the wife of Oscar De La Hoya, is seen seated next to him at ringside multiple times to watch fights, but she has expressed herself against boxing.
