List of individuals executed in Alabama

Thirty-two individuals have been executed by the State of Alabama at the Holman Correctional Facility near Atmore since 1983:

  1. John Louis Evans, d. 22 April 1983 by electrocution for the murder of Edward Nassar.
  2. Arthur Lee Jones, d. 21 March 1986 by electrocution for the murder of Willaim Hosea Waymon.
  3. Wayne Ritter, d. 28 August 1987 by electrocution for the murder of Edward Nassar.
  4. Michael Lindsey, d. 26 May 1989 by electrocution for the murder of Rosemary Zimlich Rutland.
  5. Horace Dunkins, d. 14 July 1989 by electrocution for the murder of Lynn McCurry.
  6. Herbert Richardson, d. 18 August 1989 by electrocution for the murder of Rena Mae Callins.
  7. Arthur Julius, d. 17 November 1989 by electrocution for the murder of Susie Bell Sanders.
  8. Wallace Thomas, d. 13 July 1990 by electrocution for the murder of Quenette Shehane.
  9. Larry Heath, d. 30 March 1992 by electrocution for the murder of Rebecca Heam.
  10. Cornelius Singleton, d. 20 November 1992 by electrocution for the murder of Ann Hogan.
  11. Willie Clisby, d. 28 April 1995 by electrocution for the murder of Fletcher Handley.
  12. Varnell Weeks, d. 12 May 1995 by electrocution for the murder of Mark Batts.
  13. Edward Horsley, Jr., d. 16 February 1996 by electrocution for the murder of Naomi Rolon.
  14. Billy Wayne Waldrop, d. 10 January 1997 for the murder of Thurman Donahoo.
  15. Walter Hill, d. 2 May 1997 by electrocution for the murders of Willie Mae Hammock, John Tatum, and Lois Tatum.

  22. Robert Lee Tarver, Jr., d. 14 April 2000 by electrocution for the murder of Hugh Sims Kite.
  23. Pernell Ford, d. 2 June 2002 by electrocution for the murders of Willie C. Griffith and Linda Gail Griffith.
  24. Lynda Lyon Block, d. 10 May 2002 by electrocution for the murder of Opelika police Sergeant Roger Lamar Motley. Block was the first woman executed by the state of Alabama since 1957.
  25. Anthony Keith Johnson, d. 12 December 2002 by lethal injection for the murder of Kenneth Cantrell.
  26. Michael Eugene Thompson, d. 13 March 2003 by lethal injection for the murder of Maisie Carlene Gray.
  27. Gary Leon Brown, d. 24 April 2003 by lethal injection for the murder of Jack David McGraw.
  28. Tommy Jerry Fortenberry, d. 7 August 2003 by lethal injection for the murders of Ronald Michael Guest, Wilbut T. Nelson, Robert William Payne, and Nancy Payne.
  29. James Barney Hubbard, d. August 5 2004 by lethal injection for the murder of Lillian Montgomery.
  30. David Kevin Hocker, d. 30 September 2004 by lethal injection for the murder of Jerry Wayne Robinson.
  31. Mario Giovanni Centobie, d. 28 April 2005 by lethal injection for the murder of Moody police officer Keith Turner.
  32. Jerry Paul Henderson, d. 2 June 2005 by lethal injection for the murder of Jerry Haney in Talladega and for accepting $3,000 from Haney's wife for the killing.
