  • Peggy - chimp; played Bonzo in Bedtime for Bonzo with President Ronald Reagan
  • Sam - orangutan; played Dunston in the movie: Dunston Checks In, 1996 (trained by Larry Madrid)
  • Willie - chimp; played Virgil in the movie: Project X, 1987
  • Zippie - chimp; rollerskater (U.S. television in the 1950s)

  • Binti Jua - gorilla who saved a human boy
  • Colo - first gorilla born in captivity
  • Floquet de Neu or Copito de Nieve ("Snowflake"), only albino gorilla known to exist; most famous resident of the Parc Zoològic de Barcelona
  • Willie B. - gorilla, kept in isolation for decades, became head of a troop and father of five
