Le Mars is a city located in Plymouth County, Iowa, USA. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,237. It is the county seat of Plymouth CountyTemplate:GR. LeMars is the home of Well's Dairy, the world's largest producer of ice cream novelties and is called the Ice Cream Capitol of the World. Lemars, located on the Floyd River, is northeast of Sioux City. LeMars is, of course, the home to famed radio personality and Greek food enthusiast, M.C. Masuen.

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 9,237 people, 3,640 households, and 2,453 families residing in the city. The population density is 523.7/km² (1,356.9/mi²). There are 3,818 housing units at an average density of 216.5/km² (560.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.24% White, 0.45% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.94% from other races, and 0.81% from two or more races. 2.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,640 households out of which 34.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.0% are married couples living together, 8.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% are non-families. 28.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 3.05.
In the city the population is spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who are 65 years of age or older.
